At one end are the dense palm groves that are so characteristic of Kerala's landscape. It has a long sandy beach.

The thousand feet pier date backs to 1862 when Captain Huge Crawford built it to provide shelter and protection to the boats and ships that came in. Also there is a lighthouse that obviously illuminated the path of ships in the darkness of night. Both these remnants from past are not in a good condition today, yet they have the capability to impress you. There are also other colonial buildings that offer good sightseeing.
